Mr. Edgar Hamilton McDonald, aged 88, of Coopersville, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012. Edgar was born Aug 10, 1923 in Childersburg, AL.to Ernest and Annie (Mincie) McDonald. Edgar served in the US Army during WW II, participated in the invasion of Normandy and was the recipient of 3 Purple Heart Medals for wounds received while in service. After his return home to Alabama from the service Edgar found work in MI. He worked construction and help build US 131and also worked for the City of Grand Rapids until he retired from their Street Maintenance Dept. Edgar was preceded in death by his wife Constance (McConnell) McDonald. He is survived by his six children Danny (Betty) Carden, Tommy (Linda) McDonald, Wanda (Dave) Venturato, Stanley McDonald, Terry (Penny) McDonald, Jerry (Marianne) McDonald; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one sister Frankie (Charles) Batchler; one brother-in-law Butch (Mary) McConnell; 3 sisters-in-law Audrey (Rodney) BeDuhn, Beverly Traub, Judy (Mike) Sanders and many nieces and nephews. There will be a Life Celebration and a time to share memories with the family on Sunday July 1, 2012 from 2 to 5 at the Coopersville VFW Post, 511 68th Ave, Coopersville MI where Edgar was a member.
