Donald Dorman Tasker, a lifelong resident of Coopersville, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at the age of 80. Don, a pharmacist, owned and operated Taskers Drug Store for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1994. He is remembered for his years of involvement in the Coopersville community. Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol. Don also leaves behind his son Thomas and daughteré�a�"in-law Anne and their children Tanner, Donald Chase and David Harrison é�a�" the grandchildren he loved so much. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert and wife Dolores Horan, brother-in-law Robert Dawson, sisters-in-law Patricia and Mary Horan and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his son John in January of 2002 and by his parents Vernon and Maude Tasker and sister-in law Barbara Dawson. Doné�a�a��s first love in life was his family, followed by his passion for boating. He had many boating friends and was a member of the Grand Haven Yacht Club. For a time, he served as a boat surveyor. Don had several boats but the most traveled and special one was the Mudhen which he piloted in all the Great Lakes and also made theé�a�� Great Loopé�a�� that extended from Grand Haven to the Mississippi River, Florida, the East Coast, Erie Canal and through the Great Lakes. Don was a caring person who was always a listener. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed the computer. He had the ability to repair just about anything. He also earned an airplane piloté�a�a��s license. Don graduated from Coopersville High School and earned a BS in Pharmacy at Ferris State University. He was a Korean War veteran, a member of the American Legion, charter member of the local VFW, on the board of directors of the Coopersville State Bank of Michigan, a Coopersville councilman, a past member of the Coopersville Rotary, is a member of the Coopersville Area Historical Society, Michigan State Pharmaceutical Assn. of Western Michigan and a member of St. Michaelé�a�a��s Catholic Church, Coopersville. There will be a memorial mass at 11 am on Saturday, July 9 at St. Michaels. Visitation is at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Michaels Church, the American Cancer Society the Coopersville Roundabout Beautification Project or The Coopersville Area Historical Society.
