David Gerald Balkon

David Gerald Balkon, age 81, of Coopersville, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Charles and Agnes (Balsitis) Balkon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Cassandra “Sandy” Balkon and several siblings. David was a long time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Parish in Coopersville, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to breakfast with his former coworkers and watching the Detroit Lions. David and Sandy were foster care providers for over 20 years. David will be deeply missed by his sons, Christopher (Patti) Balkon and David (Renee) Balkon; grandchildren, Zachary (Jeremiah Jamieson) Balkon, Caleb Balkon and fiancé Britni Steele, Sydney Balkon, Samantha Balkon, Travis and fiancé Allissia Ream and Emylee Balkon; great granddaughter, Ivy Rose Balkon; all the bonus children he took in and many special nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
