David Anderson

January 31, 1938 — December 4, 2020

David Arthur Anderson, age 82, of Ravenna formerly of Coopersville, was called home to his Lord Friday, December 4, 2020. He was a man of deep faith and loved to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others. David was born in Ann Arbor, MI, to the late Owen and Mildred (Russell) Anderson. He served in the U.S Marines and U.S. Navy, worked for General Motors and retired from the Alpine Ave. plant in 1999. Although he worked for GM he was passionate about his Fords especially the Ford Thunderbird. He raised and raced pigeons for many years, enjoyed deer hunting, traveling out west and mission trips to the Navajo Nation. David was very close with his family, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as time spent with his twin brother Phil “Tip” Anderson. In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by his first wife Jacqueline “Jackie” Anderson in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Norma Anderson; daughters, Theresa (Jeffrey) Maycroft and Connie (Gregory) Nieboer; stepchildren, Julie Nicholas, James (Michele) Nicholas and Jeri Lynn (Douglas) Derks; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Codi (Brian) Pearson, Wendi (Chris) Roberts - Adele and Elliot and Chad (Lena) Nieboer - Tristen and new great grandchild to arrive in April 2021; step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, Rochelle Sadie, Brandon (Sarah) Nicholas - Lily, Mark (Rebecca) Derks - Calder, Tiffany (Shawn) Crenshaw - Bailey, Steven and Jackson, Andrea (Mitchell) Murray - Clara and Matthew Derks; twin brother, Phillip “Tip” (Norma) Anderson; brother, Charles (JoEllen) Anderson and many additional family and friends. Because of Covid Restrictions a Private Family Service will be held Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville with Pastor Aaron Shaw, Pastor James Nicholas and Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will take place in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to North Casnovia Baptist Church, 1625 N Canada Rd, Bailey, MI 49303 or Mel Trotter Ministries, 225 Commerce Avenue SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
