Cassandra "Sandy" Balkon

Cassandra “Sandy” Rose Balkon, age 77, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020. Cassandra was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the late James and Ruth (Peasley) May. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her sisters Jami Miller, Sherrill Moss, and niece Melanie Burian. Cassandra was a foster care provider for over 20 years, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and had a strong love toward animals. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 53 years David Balkon; children, Christopher (Patti) Balkon, and David J. Balkon; grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, Caleb, Travis (Allissa), Sydney, and Emylee; sister Jori May, many nieces and nephews and all the bonus children she took in. In keeping with her wish cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
