Carl Merkins

Mr. Carl R. é�a�A"Cappyé�a�� Merkins, aged 95, of Nunica, was called home to his Lord Sunday January 29, 2012. Carl was a lifelong member of St Lukes Lutheran Church and resident of Nunica. He worked his family farm in Nunica and was also employed as a Tug Boat Captain by Construction Aggregates of Ferrysburg. He was preceded in death by his son David and son-in-law Jim Coleman. Carl is survived by his wife of 69yrs Verna; children Dixie Coleman, Kenneth and Terri Merkins and Kathleen and Tom Webb; ten grandchildren; and several great and great great grandchildren; his sister Edna Nelson and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at St Lukes Lutheran Church in Nunica, Rev. William Lahrman officiating. Burial in Nunica Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville. Memorial donations may be made to St Lukes Lutheran Church, 11261 South Street, P.O.
