Betty Schout

Betty Mae Schout, age 79, of Coopersville, was called home to heaven October 27, 2014 after a brief illness. Betty was born in Grand Rapids MI. to Richard and Josephine (Kraai) Sternberg who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her infant son Douglas, great granddaughter Hannah, and sister Marilyn Tillema. Betty was a long time member of the Coopersville Christian Reformed Church where she played the organ for 50 yrs. She had a servanté�a�a��s heart and was always there to lend a helping hand. She worked as a medical assistant starting in Coopersville in 1968 with Dr. Timmerman and was still working up until her illness at least one day a week at Allendale Family Practice. Betty was a great cook and was known for her pecan rolls and pies. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an accomplished seamstress, loved to play cards with friends and family and enjoyed wintering in Bradenton Fl. Betty will be missed by her husband of 61 years Arlyn; daughter, Deb and Al Koppenol and their children, Mike (Amy) Koppenol, Lisa (Mike) Carlson and Robin,(Chris) Liszewski; son, Randy and Candace Schout and their children, Andrea (Scott) Schwallier and Doug (Mandy) Schout; son, Steve and Sandy Schout and their children, Shellie (Taylor) Hutting, Staci (Nate) Hovinga, Dana (Miles) Ulberg and Caleb Schout; daughter, Tammy and Rog Langeland and their children, Stefani (Matt) Raterink, Lynn (Ian) Johnson, Kris (Jared) Schuitema and Shane Langeland; 20 geat grandchildren with two more expected very soon; 3 sisters-in-law, Shirley (Garth) Fynewever, Lynda DeYoung, Judy Gort and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday 11 am at the Coopersville Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Steve Bussis officiating with burial in Coopersville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the all purpose room at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Coopersville Association for Christian Education, 200 Henry St, Coopersville, MI. An online guestbook may be signed at www.throopfh.com.
