Bernice Yvonne (Veenstra) Vodry

Bernice Yvonne (Veenstra) Vodry, age 85, of Marne, passed away peacefully with family at her side Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Bernice was born in Grand Rapids, MI. to the late Burney and Marie (Burkhout) Veenstra. 

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Linda and Mark Holler; son, Jerry and Mollie Vodry; grandchildren, Jessica Holler and Austin Bollinger, Cody Holler, Cassandra Vodry, Josh Vodry and Kylie Curtis;  Josh and Kylie’s mother Kimberly Curtis-Poshkowsky; sister Aletha Rosema; brothers, Ron Veenstra, Joe (Marcia) Veenstra and David (Dani) Veenstra; sisters-in-law, Dianne Veenstra and Jan Veenstra; many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents Bernice was also preceded in death by her son, Glenn Vodry on March 18, 2022, her sister Lorraine Koenes, brothers Larry Veenstra and Ben Veenstra and sister-in-law Elaine Veenstra.

Bernice retired from GM at the Alpine Ave. Fisher Body Plant in 1991. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, volunteering at Berlin Baptist Church and with Helping Hand, golfing, bowling, going to Lake Michigan and taking color tours in the fall. Bernice also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, scrabble and was a serious and ruthless competitor who wouldn’t cut anyone any slack when she played.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at the Berlin Baptist Church, 14141 State St. Marne, MI 49435 with her Pastor Rev. Jeff Gunderman officiating. Burial will take place in the Marne Cemetery. 

Relatives and Friends may greet the family Monday at Church in Marne, one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M.
