Barbara Louise (Hammond) Knapp, age 86, was called home to her Lord on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Barb was born in Muskegon, MI to the late Nathan and Marie (Neff) Hammond. Barb grew up in the Coopersville-Ravenna area and was a graduate of Coopersville High School Class of 1953 graduating with Charles Westover (Del Shannon). Barb married the late Dallas “Dale - Toots” Knapp while in New Jersey with her husband Dale who was in the U.S. Marines she received her LPN degree from Ocean County Vocational School. Upon her return to Coopersville after Dale retired from the U.S. Marines Barb worked as an LPN at Butterworth Hospital the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, Saint Ann’s Home, Welcome Home for the Blind and finally retired for the 3rd and final time from Yorkshire Manor Assisted Living in Walker. Barb was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed sewing outfits for her children and grandchildren, liked canning her own fruits and vegetable from her garden. She was a member of the Coopersville United Methodist Church and the OK Choir in Coopersville. Barb was preceded in death by her husband Dale “Toots” Knapp in Oct of 2006. She is survived by her children Dallas Jr. “Dale” (Karen) Knapp, Robert Knapp, Barbara Cobb and Susan (Tom) Ketchum; grandchildren Nathan Knapp, Matthew Knapp and Kami (Robert) Allers; great grandchildren, Madeline Knapp, Megan Allers, Beau Allers; brothers-in-law, Floyd (Jenny) Knapp, Larry (Linda) Knapp; sisters-in-law Geraldine Knapp and Lois Spencer; many nieces and nephews, In addition to her parents and husband Barb was also preceded in death by her infant sons James and Joseph, grandson Kevin, great grandchildren Jay and Morgan, brothers and sisters-in-law Chuck (Helen) Hammond and Richard (Arlene) Hammond and her dog TyTy who was her special companion. In keeping with her wish cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Coopersville United Methodist Church 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 5, 2022 with Rev. Corie Conran officiating. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Interment will be in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Co. Humane Society. Online condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.throopfh.com.
