Anthony Portfliet

Anthony é�a�A"Tonyé�a�� Van Portfliet Jr., age 93, of Grand Rapids, was called home to his Lord, Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Florence (Mosselman) Van Portfliet Sr. and his brother and sister-in-law Jay and Hattie Van Portfliet. Tony was a WW II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he traveled to every state in the continental U.S. Tony is survived by his wife of 69 yrs., Madeline; 2 sons, James Van Portfliet (Sandi Kornoelje) and Alan Van Portfliet; 2 daughters, Mary (Andy) Gadomski and Nancy ( Kim) Sutterfield; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren: 1 great great granddaughter; brother John (Marie) Van Portfliet; sisters-in-law, Regina (Al) De Kuiper, Louise Posthuma, Grace Posthuma, Helen Posthuma and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place with a private family graveside service at Marne Cemetery at a later date.
