Alvin Zimmer

Zimmer Mr Alvin Lawrence Zimmer aged 61, of Marne passed away at his home Friday July 2, 2010, with his family by his side. Alvin was born March 21, 1949 in Sparta MI to Walter and Evelyn (Host) Zimmer. He was a member of the Marne American Legion Post 376 and served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Co-owner of West Michigan Truss Co. in Fruitport retiring in the Spring of 1998. He then started Alvin Zimmer Excavating Co. He was a life long member of St Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Mary; his daughters Traci (Ross) Schoenborn, and Jamie (John) Laug; step-children Eric (Amy) Combs, Adam Combs, Ryan Spaman and Fianc� Beth, Aaron Spaman, and Holly Spaman; grandchildren Ryleigh and Bryce Schoenborn and Kylin Spaman; brothers and sisters James Zimmer, Noreen Umlor, Joseph Zimmer Kenneth Zimmer and Rosalie (Robert) Heidorf and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 11:00 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, Conklin. Fr. Ernest Bernott Celebrant. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Throop Funeral Home, Coopersville Monday evening from 6 to 9 pm with the Rosary Service Monday evening at 9 pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass at Church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials to St Joseph Catholic Church or Spectrum Health Hospice appreciated.
