Alma Bouwman

May 13, 1933 — February 26, 2020

Alma June (Borgman) Bouwman, age 86, of Coopersville, completed her journey here and went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to be reunited with her husband Gerald. She was born and raised in Fremont, MI, her parents were the late George and Alice (Fisher) Borgman. Alma graduated from Fremont High School and worked in the office of the City of Fremont. She married Gerald Bouwman in 1956 and with her husband moved to Coopersville where they established their home and Alma was employed in the office at Heath Mfg.

Alma is survived by her children, Roger Bouwman and Jodie (Jim) Lillibridge; 6 grandchildren, Monti (Justin) Mead, Chelsie Lillibridge, D.J. Lillibridge, Cody Bouwman, Alex Bouwman and Connor Bouwman; 4 great grandchildren, Dustyn, Dylan, Calea and Axcel; sister, Marlene (Ken) Busman; brother-in-law John Kleyn; sister-in-law Harriet Sackstedder; brother-in-law, Fred (Betty) Bouwman; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Alma was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Jennie Bouwman; sister, Gladys Kleyn, brother and sister-in-law Harold and Dorothy Borgman, sister and brother-in-law, Willetta and Paul Boeskool

Alma was a charter member of Church of The Saviour in Coopersville, where she was a Sunday school teacher and also helped organize, cook and serve many luncheons and dinners at Church. Her faith was strong and she knew God’s mercy would see her through. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music especially Southern Gospel. She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved to have her family gathered around her table for dinners and also enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. The family would like to thank the staff at Fountain View Estates – Coopersville for the loving care they gave to Alma.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Church of The Saviour, 180 N. 68th Ave, Coopersville with Rev Dave Kingma officiating. Burial will be in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM at church. Memorial donations may be made to Church of The Saviour or Ottawa Co. Humane Society in memory of Gidget.
