Frederick Kromer

Frederick Merwyn Kromer, age 83, of Coopersville and Spring Lake, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020. Fred was born in Polkton Twp. to the late Lavern and Ruth (Darbee) Kromer. He was also preceded in death by his brother Raymond Kromer, and infant sister Caroline Kromer. Fred was a graduate of Coopersville High School and served in the U.S. Marines as a communications technician while stationed in Northern Germany. After his time in the service Fred took a job with the Coopersville Post Office where he delivered mail and worked as a Postal Clerk for over 30 years. Fred was a man of deep faith and was active at St Michael’s Parish in Coopersville and at St Mary’s Parish in Spring Lake where he served as a Lector, Usher and at the food pantry. Fred was also involved in the Coopersville Lions Club and other civic organizations in the Coopersville, Spring Lake areas. He is survived by his sisters, Margaret (Gene) Helsen and Dorothy (Ben) VanDam; sister-in-law, Beverly Kromer and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 24, 2020, 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 17150 88th Ave, Coopersville, MI 49404 with Fr. Ayub Nasar Celebrant. Interment will be at St Michael’s Cemetery in Coopersville. If attending the funeral mass, you must wear a mask and practice social distancing rules. If you are feeling sick, please do not attend the service. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 prior to the Mass at St Michael’s Church.
