Obituary

Mr Joe Vargo, age 93, passed away Tuesday evening June 10, 2014. Joe was born to the late John and Julia Vargo in Polkton Twp. MI and has been a lifelong area resident. He served during WWII in the US Air Force, and retired from Leigh Products in Coopersville after 42 ½ years of service. He was a member of the Marne American Legion Post and longtime member of St Michael's Catholic Church in Coopersville. Joe enjoyed fishing, gardening and feeding and watching the many birds that came to his bird feeders. Of course watching the birds at the feeder also gave him an excuse to enjoy his favorite anytime snack a Fudgesicle which he also enjoyed earlier Tuesday evening before he passed away. Joe loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends and delighted in sharing a good story and a joke with everyone he talked to. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 69 years Rose; children, Linda (Pete) Englert, Larry Vargo, Ron Vargo, Nancy (Daniel) Wozniak and Rose (Bob) Beach; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Virginia Moser; many nieces and nephews and his special friend Dan Hudelson. In addition to his parents Joe was also preceded in death by his brothers John and Louis and sisters, Julia and Rose. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 21st, 11 am at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Coopersville where Joe will repose one hour prior to the service. Fr. Norm Droski will celebrate the mass with interment at St Michael’s Cemetery in Coopersville. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, June 20th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville. Memorial donations may be made to St Michael’s Catholic Church, 17150 88th Ave, Coopersville, MI. 49404.
