Jay Drooger, 92, of Eastmanville, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Jay was born in Grand Rapids to Bert Sr. and Elsie Drooger on December 14, 1921. An army veteran of WWII, Jay served for 4 1/2 years in Europe. In 1945 he married Eloise Lieffers and settled in Eastmanville to raise his family. He was an avid gardener, bird lover, hunter, woodworker and, above all, a loving father to his five children. He was the founder and proprietor of Modern I.S. Service, which continues to operate as Modern Office Interiors in Coopersville. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eloise, his son, Jeffrey Drooger (Jennie), daughters, Patricia Marzano, Pamela DeVries (Rodney), Jayne Drooger and Jonelle Rosin (Scott). He was the proud grandfather of twelve and great-grandfather of seven. In keeping with Jays wish cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors Saturday, April 12th, one hour prior to the 11 o'clock service at the United Reformed Church of Eastmanville 6845 Leonard St, Coopersville, MI 49404, with Rev Jeph Noble officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Jay to one of the following organizations: Wounded Warriors Project, Ottawa County Humane Society or the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight.
